emphaSIS

Main Audience

The main targeted audience, in the respective country, includes:

  • parents of enrolled students and current teaching staff
  • interested parents and teaching staff
  • authorities and potential cooperation partners

Intended Impression

“SIS are experts in education and pedagogy and they intensively deal with current topics. SIS schools are vivid organisms that focus on the students and their successful learning experience. I am happy to send my child to this school.”

Periodicity

emphaSIS is issued once a year around May by the country company. It is published in print with a digital version made available on our websites.

Content

The publication emphaSIS contains three thematic blocks:

  • In Focus: a concrete thematic focus per country, which is treated intensively and in depth from several perspectives, including the parents’ view, with five to six pages.
  • From the Schools: each school of the country reports an important aspect from the past year. It is desirable for some school locations to take up the focus and, for example, describe how the subject is dealt with at the school.
  • This and That: The publication ends with three sections (1. “SIS en route”, 2. “SIS recommends” and 3. “One question, two points of view”)  that are intended to be entertaining and may, but not necessarily, be related to the focus.

This basic structure remains as standard. Fundamental elements are: editorial, imprint, table of contents, focus pages (“In Focus”), school pages (“From the Schools”), entertainment section (“This and That”) and the last page (overview of SIS locations including school levels).

Design

Language

The following applies:

  • Both languages used in each country are to be given equal weight.
  • The editorial is either in the local language or English. We recommend to regularly alternate between the local language and English. An English summary of the editorial is required if the editorial is written in the local language.
  • Articles in the “In Focus”-section need a summary if they are written in the local language.
  • There are no summaries required for articles in the sections “From the Schools” and “This and That”.
